Above the Knee Hair Removal Debate!
Millie Mackintosh Holiday Selfie Sparks Discussion
Made in Chelsea star, designer and fitness/beauty guru Millie Mackintosh has triggered a lively debate about leg shaving after posting an Instagram holiday snap showing light hair on her thighs.
Some people have been shocked by the appearance of body hair with comments such as:
‘She doesn’t shave the tops of her legs.’ (rachred26)
‘You growing the hair on your legs mills?’ (laurashoez)
‘How hairy are her thighs?’ (lottiehj)
‘ALWAYS shave the top as well as bottom. I find it so gross, ruins the view’ (Charleychically)
On the other side of the argument, a majority have rushed to her defence, saying that not everybody removes the hair above the knee with comments such as:
‘I was always told not to shave above the knee. What is even the need to?! Get over it you losers! So pathetic and judgemental’ (cazdurling)
‘Lots of girls don’t shave above the knee, I don’t…’ (Foreverklx)
‘… hair is normal. Why should anyone walk around looking airbrushed.’ (shamferr)
‘These comments are terrible and so damaging to all the young impressionable girls that follow Millie.’ (Jazziblue)
‘I’ve always been conflicted about getting rid of my blonde thigh hairs and now I’m definitely keeping them! #girlfur #keepingitreal’ (Ceinwen4110%)
So it would seem that opinions are divided on the top of leg hair debate and at the end of the day, it is a subjective matter.
Certainly while many women only do the lower leg, there are others who prefer to do the full leg. One factor to consider is the colour of the hair. For those with fine, sparse, blonde hair it will be less noticeable than those with darker or thicker hair.
